The National Prisoner Foundation inaugurates the Corona Emergency Response Project in the Military Prison in Sana’a

Today, Thursday, the National Prisoner  Foundation launched the Emergency Response Project for Prevention of Corona Virus in the Military Prison in Sana’a, funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The project, which is being implemented in coordination with the Higher Committee for Prisoners ’Care and Assistance to Insolvents, the Committee of Awareness and Community Education in Amanat Al Asimah Mr.Ali Jassar, is targeting 600 of the prison inmates and the Military Prison Staff. In the inauguration, Mr.Ali Jassar, Director of Rights and Freedoms at the Presidency’s office, pointed out the importance of strengthening cooperation and partnership between civil society organizations and official authorities to implement such projects to mitigate the Corona Virus. He called on businessmen to support such Projects consider prisons and their staff among the places most vulnerable to outbreaks of diseases and epidemics, including Corona. While the Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office, Head of Amanat Al Asimah’s Awareness and Education Committee, Mr.Nasser Al-Kahili, pointed out the importance of such projects to protect prisoners and prison staff as the most vulnerable to epidemics. Stressing on the importance of cooperation between official agencies and civil society organizations to prevent Corona Virus … Appraising the role of the National Prisoner Foundation and UNDP in the implementation of this project.Mr.Al-Kahili called for the expansion of such projects to include the IDPs and marginalized groups to reduce the Corona epidemic. In turn, the General Manager of the National Prisoner Foundation, Mr.Fadl Mahrez Obaid, considered the project to be the beginning of the Foundation’s work in this aspect .. indicating that it includes Hygiene tools, sterilizers, masks, and detergents and it targets all inmates and staff in the Military Prison. He appreciated the role of the Military Prison Administration in facilitating the Foundation’s tasks in implementing the project, calling for more partnership and cooperation to serve prisoners and prison staff to prevent the Corona epidemic. Mr.Obaid confirmed that the Foundation is working to expand the scope of targeting in this project. For his part, the Director of the Military Prison, Colonel Mohamed El-Shahari, pointed out the importance of the project in enhancing protection for inmates and prison staff .. He praised the role of the National Prisoner Foundation in protecting prisoners from the Corona Virus. Stressing on the continuation of the partnership between the Military Prison and the National Prisoner Foundation for the sake of serving the Prison and its inmates.
