The National Prisoner Foundation holds a meeting to discuss insolvent prisoners due to be released soon

Today, Thursday, the National Prisoner Foundation held a meeting to discuss the prisoners scheduled to be released, in implementation of the results of the meeting held by the leadership of the Foundation yesterday, with Judicial Inspection Authority Judge/ Ahmed Al-Shahari, the Head of the Insolvency Committee, Judge /Abdul Hamid Al-Zarqa, and a member of the committee,Mr. Basem Al-Shami.

The meeting, which was held at the Foundation’s headquarters, chaired by the Foundation’s  General Manager Mr. Fadl Obeid, in the presence of the Foundation’s legal advisor Mr.Abdul-Malik Sharaf Al-Din, the representative of the Foundation’s branch in Ibb Mr.Muhammad Al-Faqih, the volunteer lawyer team, and the Protection Department, the insolvent prisoners due to be released after examining their files, And see the names corresponding to the legal conditions and standards.

The  General Manager of the Foundation reviewed the outcomes of the meeting held by the Foundation’s leadership with the Supreme Judicial Council, the Judicial Inspection Authority and the Insolvency Committee, and the most important tasks entrusted to the Foundation to complete the necessary procedures; to start the release of insolvent prisoners, in coordination and cooperation with the competent authorities, the Attorney General and the Ministries of Interior and Justice , The Rehabilitation and Reform Authority, the Zakat Authority, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr.Fadl Obaid stressed the need to coordinate efforts between the Foundation as a civil society organization and other relevant authorities to contribute to mitigate the insolvent prisoners’concerns, specifying the names that the Foundation will adopt, and setting a specific amounts of money that will  be paid by the Foundation  for the insolvent prisoners, to alleviate overcrowding in Prisons and  Detention Centers,just to avoid Corona Virus Outbreak.

The meeting approved the formation of an emergency committee to follow up on this humanitarian file, headed by Mr. Abdul-Malik Sharaf Al-Din, and the membership of the Lawyers and Protection Department, to determine the names that conform to the conditions and legal criteria to be submitted to the official authorities to complete the release operations.

The Foundation’s leadership, along with the Chamber of Commerce, had met the Head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge /Dr. Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil, to discuss the conditions of prisoners and work to provide prisons and prisoners ’needs to reduce the spread of the Corona epidemic.

The leadership of the Foundation also held another meeting, with the Head of the Judicial Inspection Authority, Judge /Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahari, and the Head of the Insolvency Committee, Judge /Abdel Hamid Al-Zarqa, and a member of the Committee, Mr. Basem Al-Shami, to discuss the conditions of the insolvent prisoners, and to determine the names that will be released, in cooperation with the relevant Government Agencies.
