The National Prisoner Foundation’s Statement regarding targeting the Taiz women’s prison
 The National Prisoner Foundation condemned the crime of targeting the women’s prison in the Central Correctional Prison in Taiz last Sunday, describing it as a heinous crime.The Foundation considered this incident that resulted in the death of seven women, and the injury of eight female inmates of the Central Correctional Facility in Taiz and their families, as a crime that calls for the responsibility of the various parties with a sincere responsibility to prevent its recurrence.The Foundation called for the necessity of keeping prisons and detention places away from targeting and neutralizing them, placing male and female inmates  in safe places, and providing all necessary capabilities for what would preserve the lives of male and female prisoners.The Foundation called for the formation of an independent commission of investigation, with international supervision to investigate this incident, and to hold perpetrators accountable in accordance with international, national laws and treaties, and to compensate those affected (inmates and their families).In this regard, the National Prisoner Foundation stressed the need for official and civil concerted efforts, and to work on alleviating overcrowding in prisons by releasing all prisoners and detainees according to the incidental cases, with the exception of the owners of criminal and serious cases, in order to avoid the spread of the Corona epidemic.The Foundation praised all the efforts made by the competent authorities in all Governorates, which culminated in the release of approximately 2,500 prisoners in all Yemeni Governorates, as one of the measures taken to prevent the Corona epidemic.As well, the Foundation stressed the need to give prisons great importance, and to ensure the provision of disinfectants and sterilizers and to follow safety measures; to preserve the lives of male and female prisoners, to prevent the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, considering that prisons are the most threatening environment for this epidemic.
