With the Support of the Chamber of Commerce and via the National Prisoner Foundation … the release of 35 insolvent prisoners in 7 Governorates

The Public Prosecution released 35 insolvent prisoners in seven Governorates, after the Chamber of Commerce paid their financial rights at a total cost of 25 million Riyals through the National Prisoner Foundation.
Vice- President of the Chamber of Commerce in Amanat Al Asimah Sana’a, Mr.Mohamed Salah, stated that the release of the insolvent prisoners comes within the framework of the interest of the private sector and businessmen in alleviating the suffering of male and female prisoners through the National Prisoner Foundation of the private sector.
And that the Foundation has contributed during the past five years to the release of 400 male and female prisoners from insolvency, by paying at a total cost of half a billion Riyals.
He pointed out that this project comes in implementation of the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council, regarding the formation of a joint committee headed by the Judicial Council and the membership of the Ministry of Justice, Public Prosecution,  the Ministry of Interior and the Chamber of Commerce to look into prison and prisoners’ conditions in the context of precautionary measures to counter the Corona virus.
The Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce called for more cooperation and partnership between official authorities, the private sector and civil society institutions to release the insolvent prisoners to reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics.
For his part, the adviser to the Chamber of Commerce, Secretary-General of the National Prisoner Foundation, Dr. Mohamed Al-Ansi, stated that the Chamber, and through the National Prisoner Foundation, is working with the joint committee to release the second group of insolvent prisoners, which will include a greater number.
He pointed out that the release of these prisoners is a continuation of the humanitarian work carried out by the Foundation in various fields of health, infrastructure, training and rehabilitation,legal assistance,relief, and development.
