The National Prisoner Foundation organizes a visit to the children of female prisoners and presents gifts to their mothers

In a wonderful human gesture that represented a bridge for human communication, and added more joy and happiness among parents, children and female prisoners, the National Prisoner Foundation in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Reform Authority carried out a project to visit the children of female prisoners in the Central Correctional Facility in Amanat A-Asimah Sana’a.

The visit, which comes under the banner of “Through education We build Yemen providing 100 school and legal bags from the National Prisoner Foundation for female prisoners in addition to gifts on the occasion of Mother’s Day. During the visit, the Director-General of the Central Correctional Facility, Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Makhdi thanked the National Prisoner Foundation for its implementation of this important humanitarian social project, which reflects the importance of education in building Yemen.

Pointing out that the door to visit the female prisoners is open throughout the year and there is no prohibition to visit the female prisoners as a legal right for them.

He called on the National Prisoner Foundation to continue its positive efforts to improve the Central Correctional situation in Amanat Al-Asima and other Central Correctional Facilities.

For his part, The Head of the National Prisoner Foundation Mr.Tawfiq Al-Khamari stressed the interest of the Foundation in women in general and female prisoners in particular within its projects and activities.

Pointing out that this project is one of those activities, which aims to strengthen the positive relationship between female prisoners and their families and facilitate the procedures for the integration of female prisoners during the period of detention and after the expiration of the period of detention.

Stressing the right of female prisoners to see their children as a legal right guaranteed by law to mothers and children.

He added that the distribution of school bags and legal aims also to stimulate female prisoners to education and raise the level of legal awareness of female prisoners.

He stressed that the National Prisoner Foundation as an active member in the protection of women, a coordination system for the efforts of official bodies, civil society organizations and international organizations, participates in activities and projects aimed at protecting women and enhancing legal and social awareness of them both outside prison and behind bars.

Pointing out that this project was preceded by the implementation of activities and projects related to the protection of women, including the participation of the Foundation in the Bazar of International Women’s Day 2019.

He valued all efforts to ensure the success of the project, including Al-Jeel Al-Jadeed Group, which provided school bags and Grand markets, which participated in financing the activities of the project.

The project was attended by the Director General of the Central Correctional Facility in Amanat Al-Asimah and representatives of the Prisons Committee and the State Ministry for State Affairs

A number of activities and entertainment programs starting with the provision of transport means to transport the children of female prisoners from their homes to the Central Correctional and return them after the event to their homes after meeting with their mothers within the Central Correctional.

And then set up an open ceremony for female prisoners with their children that is full of a festive atmosphere, fun and distribution of gifts and toys.
