The National Prisoner Foundation inaugurates the distribution of Eid Al Adha clothing for Female prisoners in seven Governorates

On Tuesday, the National Prisoner Foundation in Sana’a launched a project to distribute the Eid al-Adha clothing for female prisoners in the Governorates of Saada, Amran, Hajjah, Ibb, Mahwit, Dhamar and Dar Al-Amal for Girls in Sana’a funded by

Al-Azani Trade Center.

At the inauguration event held at the Foundation’s headquarters, under the supervision of the Higher Committee for the Care of Prisoners and Assistance to the Insolvent Prisoners, and the Presidency of the Rehabilitation and Reform Authority, and in cooperation with the Family Protection Department at the Ministry of Interior, the General Manager of the National Prisoner Foundation, Mr.Fadel Mehrez Obaid, confirmed that this project comes within the framework of projects It is implemented by the Foundation, which targets the segment of male and female prisoners, in addition to judicial aid projects, and assistance to the insolvent prisoners.

He pointed out that the distribution of Eid clothing for women prisoners targets 208 of the inmates in seven Governorates, in cooperation with the Department of Women and Family Protection at the Ministry of Interior, praising the great efforts made by all relevant authorities to facilitate the work of the Foundation in correctional and prosecutors.

Mr. Ali Jassar, General Manager of Rights and Freedoms in the Office of the Presidency of the Republic and a member of the Monitoring team in the Higher Committee for Prisons, such a step, as it comes within the framework of attention to the situation of women prisoners in the central corrections. He pointed out that this project is the embodiment of community partnership between official Authorities and civil society organizations working in the field of prisons and prisoners, especially the National Prisoner Foundation, to unify efforts and coordination between the state and civil society.

He expressed the hope that these efforts would contribute to improving the conditions of prisons and prisoners, which would enable prisons to be an appropriate environment for the rehabilitation and reform of prisoners, a step towards the reintegration of prisoners into society after their release from prison.

For his part, Colonel /Nabil Al-Ghazali, Deputy General Manager of Family Protection at the Ministry of Interior, explained that this project comes within the framework of cooperation and partnership agreement between the Foundation and the General Directorate of Family Protection at the Ministry, which provides for facilitating the work of the Foundation in the correctional and juvenile role and prosecution.

Colonel /Al-Ghazali called on businessmen to support such projects, which work to alleviate the suffering of these vulnerable groups, particularly the category of women prisoners, who deserve all the support.

Ms. Afrah Al-Harazi, director of the women’s sections in the prisons Authority in Sana’a, praised the role of the National Prisoner Foundation in activating this project, which targets women in corrections and prisons in seven Yemeni Governorates.

She thanked the Foundation on behalf of the Head of the Rehabilitation and Prisons Authority, Major General /Abdullah Mohammed Al-Hadi, calling on organizations and civil society institutions to pay attention to male and female prisoners, as these groups are weak and deserve all support and assistance and in all fields.
